General PHYSICS 1 TOPICS TO BE COVERED BY DR CISES SUBSTITUES: THANKS
Thurs.
27-Apr Phys 1401 Review Concepts & do examples problems and solutions on:
Tues. May 2
1:25 - 4:05 PM Unit 21 Pendlium and spring mass system motion…SHM Frequency and period
also Unit 22 Wave motion and speed on strings. Harmonic vibes on strings and air tubes.
Standing waves in strings and wind instruments.
4:15 - 6:55 PM
section Unit 23 Sound speed depends on modulus and density. Echoes. Doppler applied to
red shift and radar at speed traps. Intensity of sound.
Pass out the three quizzes on the above topics. Work with students(with John lab assistant)
on completion of three quizzes to completion prior to class ending at 6:55 PM
Collect all three quizzes from students who have completed them. Those that are not complete
mark ythem "will finish" and have the students complete by next Tuesday class.Collect.
Tues. May 2 Phys 1401 Review Concepts & do examples problems and solutions on:
1:25 - 4:05 PM
(1)Vectors:Addition…focus on Resultants of all sorts of vesctors
also
(2)Kinematics with a focus on projectile motion solutions.
4:15 - 6:55 PM
section (3)Newton's second law: one objects and up to two  forces causing acceleration.
Motion either vertical or horizontal. May have friction or not.
Motion on hills also.
(4) Newton's second law: Centripetal types:Horizontal,vertical circles.
(5)Newton's second law where a = 0: Static and rotational equilibrium
2 equations and two unknowns using as a tool: Sum of forces
in y direction = 0, also sum of torques = 0.
Solutions and problems where all the the noneconcurrent forces
are on a object which is flat or horizontal.
(d)Have students PRINT their names clearly on a sign in ROLL sheet.   Thanks

Thurs. May 4 Phys 1401 Review Concepts & do examples problems and solutions on:
1:25 - 4:05 PM
(6)LINEAR Work-energy solutions and problems: where W = 0 and W is not = 0
also Energy lost = energy gained
Only Linear work-energy types. NO ROTATION w inertia(later).
4:15 - 6:55 PM Possibly simple objects connected in some way.
section
(7)LINEAR & ANGULAR COMBO Work-energy solutions and problems:W = 0 &  W not = 0
Energy lost = energy gained
Simple linear and rotating objects connected in some way.
(8)Newton's Second law for linear and angular motion combinations.
F = ma   and Torque = Moment of Inertia x angular acceleration.
Free body diagrams essential
Two laws generating up to two equations with two unknowns.
(9) HEAT ENERGY and Calorimetry: HEAT LOST = HEAT GAINED
Utilization of concepts of specific heat and latent heat.
Q=cm(delta)t    &     Q = L m
(d)Have students PRINT their names clearly on a sign in ROLL sheet.   Thanks
